I’ve been transfixed on the twitter and Flickr feeds about the attacks in Mumbai. CNN, etc. are too slow with the news.  Did I just say that?

There are people on the ground in Mumbai that are reporting what is happening in real time.  Of course, the feeds are chaotic and there are lots and lots of reports coming in, but for a news junkie like me, the volume of information coming in is pure bliss.

I think these terrorists are cowards, and there’s even a picture of one of the alleged cowards over on Flickr. Check it out:

Gotta love the blood drenched face and the red eye. The guy looks really young too. I don’t know who this guy is, but he does look scary. As of right now, I have not heard anything about who/ what organization is responsible.  Names are being thrown around, but nothing is confirmed yet.

On a slightly different note, the news cycle is getting shorter and shorter.  The alternative news feeds are getting faster and faster.  I don’t see how television can keep up. It’s not possible to have people with equipment everywhere, and there’s only so much that news organizations can do.  With the advent of twitter, web enabled smart phones with video and ubiquitous internet access everywhere everyone is a journalist.

I still haven’t decided if that’s a good thing or not.

I talk about the local spat between Time Warner Cable and the local NBC affiliate named KXAN.  It’s been over a month since Time Warner Cable and KXAN parted ways and I’ve been unaffected by the fiasco.  Some people have gotten hooked on Heroes and some other shows that are on NBC, but I never watch that channel. I seriously couldn’t tell you what shows are on NBC, other than Saturday Night Live.

In a nutshell, I go off on a tangent about how people on the Spanish language radio stations in Austin mispronounce words.  I go on and on about how they try to pronounce English words in Spanish and vice versa. Towards the end of the audio, you can hear one of the commercials playing in the background.
