IF you don’t have the expertise to put together a powerpoint in house, then outsource it!  Also, it was very noisy at the meeting because people were all talking in the background. People were quiet for 1 person only, and it was the guy that talked about his sports watching robot thing.

Anyway, it also seemed like I was the only person twittering from the event, eventhough almost everyone at the event had a twitter account. Maybe I missed the twitter with what the #tracking thing was supposed to be.  I also took some pictures that I’m going to post somewhere soon.

One last thing, Microsoft is really going after the startup market.  They are offering this whole suite of products to companies for free.  The suite includes access to services that usually cost an arm and a leg, but you get them for free for 3 years and then it’s a $100 per year subscription after that.

There was a guy there that said that venture capitalists are looking for companies to fund. Apparently, VCs only make money when they invest in companies, so “if you’re wondering about how you’re going to pay for your breakfast burrito tomorrow, come see me.”  Seriously, it was almost as if they were begging people to come take their money. The whole event had this “can do” excitement about it. I liked it.

Recession, what recession?

I have to wonder, with the advent of paypal and other electronic services, how is Western Union still in business?  Have y’all ever tried to send anyone money using WU?  It costs you, the sender, about $9 to send the money.  Then, the recipient has to go to a WU station to collect the money.  Why would anyone do that when you can just paypal the money over?

Seriously, you can send the money to whomever’s paypal account, then they can transfer it to their own bank account, or pay whatever bill they have to pay straight from the paypal account all for FREE!  Why pay for that same service?

Anyway, I guess that’s a story for another day.
