A few weeks after I took this job, I came to realize that the organization’s leadership has a strong republican party lean. I consider myself to be non-partisan. I feel like both parties have their plusses and their minuses and I don’t think that we should pigeon hole ourselves into one group over another. To be quite honest, I think I lean more democrat than I do republican, but that’s a whole other story.
Back to this story… after I took this job, I had a waking nightmare that one day I would be faced with Karl Rove or someone of his ilk, at the office and in need of my tech support savvy.
In my dream Karl had Colossus with him.
I would have had the “holy grail” in front of me. For those of you that don’t know, “Colossus” is the name of Karl’s computer. According to geek lore, Colussus holds all of the secrets of Dubya’s government.
Collosus holds everything from the real reason we went to war in Iraq to how Halliburton got those contracts, to the real reason why we haven’t caught Osama and the real culprits behind the attack on the twin towers.
In my dream, since I come into contact with that computer, and I see what it has, things start to happen a la “Bourne Identity.”
Well, that particular scenario will not play out, however I will be in the same room as the aforementioned Mr. Rove.
I’m at my company’s annual convention and Mr. Rove is the keynote speaker. I already went and picked up my pass to come hear him just because I want to listen to what he has to say.
Michelle is trying to get me to think of Mr. Rove as one of the most influential people of the 20th and early 21st century instead of thinking of him as a war criminal which is what I want to do. Anyway, I’m strongly leaning towards Michelle’s point of view, instead of my own.
Like him or not, he is indeed influential.
Like him or not, he does; or did have Dubya’s ear for a long time.
Like him or not, he is a very good political strategist.
I think it really comes down to the question of using your powers for good or for evil.
Homeboy definitely has the power to persuade, the question is, does he persuade people for the greater good or not. I’d like to go listen to him to see if I can pick up some his persuasion mojo. Maybe I’ll learn a thing or two about persuasion and seducing the masses.
